sweater sleeves

Back to some fiber related fun for a post.

I’m knitting those sweaters for the girls the stripey ones. (It always amazes me how as soon as I blog about how quickly something is coming along all forward progress comes to a halt.) On these I really got stalled out on the sleeves … always the sleeves! We are having family pictures taken next week and long story short. Kids clothes are freaking expensive, so we are using these sweaters as one of their outfits. I think this will be a neat thing too – mama made and all. So I need to get them P1000945.jpgdone and now, back to those sleeves.

I got a model out today, yes I was super careful with all the needle tips.   I was really amazed at how still she was when I was taking the picture.

The sleeves are long enough now, but I really want them to wear these for the rest of the winter. The pattern is a bit vague when it comes to sleeve length so I’ve been really unsure what to do. Then I remembered how we would tackle this for an adult sweater and got out one of their store purchased sweaters. The sleeves on the sweater I measured against are a bit longer, so I’m going to keep knitting and shoot for matching those. If all goes well tonight (read: if the girls go to sleep well, I’m not totally exhausted, and the blog effect thing doesn’t happen again) I should be able to finish these sleeves, neckband, and call this sweater done.

That would just leave the twin sleeves …

bananas

We tired bananas at lunch today. They were a great toy! Some ended up in their mouths, but it was and accident and they spit it out pretty quickly. It was pretty hard for them to pick up the bananas on their own, I had to hand them the banana and this seemed to be a bit counter intuitive for BLW. I found this though and might give that a try next time. I was thinking it would be more wasteful for us. Today they each got half a banana, but supposing the banana inside the peel can be eaten by Hubby or I doing it this way won’t be so bad.

Well, it is about that time. Somewhat at least. I’m in NO hurry what-so-ever to wean my munchkins, but I do feel it is about time they start learning more about the wonderful world of food. As typical I’m not going to take the beaten path, been there, we are going to give Baby Led Weaning a go. There isn’t a ton of info out there, so if you find something good, and find me, please send me a link or two.

Here’s a couple of pics of the girls with their first broccoli the other day. I don’t really expect them to ingest much at this point, it is more of a toy they can smoosh and smear, it is a bonus if some actually goes in their mouths!

I don’t really know a lot about this method, so for now we are just offering one type of food at a time. We had broccoli again tonight. What a mess! Good thing it was bath night!

I Love You Mouse

We actually got this book last week from the library, but I just had to tell about the Sheep books first! We received our copy this week, so it still counts.
I Love You Mouse is an awesome book by John Graham. This is for sure one we had to have to get for our home collection. Great story with just the right amount of different things going on. It will be a great way to talk about different animals and where the live and what they do when the girls get a little older. I would be a little happier with the illustrations if they had some color – nothing too bright – just a little. I also think it will be a great way to introduce the signs for the different animals – you’ve got to know we are doing baby sign!
This book is out of print – better get your copy now! This is one to pass on and keep in the family!

We got bored today and as a means of escape I wrapped the girls up. They really love it. I just need to find some more activities that we can do that way.

We took a short walk around the neighborhood. It was too cold for much and I couldn’t figure out how to get a hat on the baby on my back without taking her down.
