This, my friends, is why we do those mind/hand puzzle things when we are kids. I got myself here, so I knew I could get out, but boy was it frustrating!
P1000400.jpg See the couple of cable needles in there? Wonder what I was doing with those? Me too. This was me trying to divide for the arms. About 1/2 an hour later I was here. P1000401.jpg Whew!

It’s just been nice simple knitting since and I’m getting close. Only about 3 inches left on the sweater bodies.

P1000493.jpg These are going to be awesome fall and winter sweaters! And the girls will be so freaking cute in them! Although I might have a biased opinion.
Tomorrow the Amilie dresses modeled by my munchkins, knit by the awesome Dyan!

cupcakes and colors

I’m knitting the cupcake hats and mittens for my little ones. (From Itty Bitty Nursery)
Here’s a little monkey verifying that it will fit and it does indeed taste yummy!

P1000218.jpg And the finished hats minus the cherries … the cherries are giving me fits! (not to be confused with pits!)

P1000395.jpg action shots once I figure out how I want to do the cherries.

I’ve been searching and searching for a couple of warm sweater/sweatshirts for them for fall/winter. Apparently all kids clothes have to have an annoying zipper or an annoying hood as winter wear. And I’m so freaking tired of pastels! Don’t get me wrong I’m a big fan of pink, but geez, there is more to pink than baby pink! Tired of shopping, I decided to make my own. (I’d probably have them done if it wasn’t for all the looking I’d done prior to knitting.)

I’m using Knitting Pure and Simple, #214. Let me say now, that I love this pattern! If I decide to make myself one to match, which I am considering because they are going so fast, I will definitely use another of their patterns.

Now for the colors part. I purchased this yarn last winter with thoughts of mittens. It’s been shoved in the stash for 10 months so I think it is well enough aged to become a new project. I decided on these colors … P1000392.jpg but then had to go to the LYS for needles. Oddly enough when I was there Joe talked me into some yarn, this NEVER happens. On the way home I was thinking to myself, hummm those colors sure do look familiar and nice together as well. Here’s what I purchased … someday it will become a blanket. Unless of course it ages in the stash for 10 months and I decided it has aged enough to become something else as well. P1000393.jpg I had a hard time once home deciding if I should use the Berroco or the Mission Falls. I went with the MF so I could do my own stripes and away I did knit. Progress/digress shots tomorrow! I am REALLY loving the pattern, didn’t I mention that, AND the wool is gorgeous! so glad I picked the MF for their sweaters!

bits

a few tidbits while I have a chance

the fiber fairy came today! Oh, how did she know I was battling two sleepy, teething babies and I needed a pick me up? One package had some fun yarn, destined for mittens and a patten to *hopefully* aid in the quick knit of some sweaters for those aforementioned babies. The second package contained a pair of beautiful dresses knit by the most generous Dyan for those babies. I’ll do pictures when they are awake and happy.

We are home – obviously? Whew! Screwed up schedules and all, we are home.

I missed my deadline on the overalls, BUT only because I packed the wrong needles. @#$!$@! I feel a bit more motivated now that I’m the one behind.

Since I did pack the wrong needles I got a nice start on a couple of cute cupcake hats, again for those babies. I closed up the tops last night and now just need to knit a couple of cherries for garnish and crochet on the frosted edge. The mittens are next. Then more mittens, hats, sweaters, all for the little monsters. I did start a *project* for myself yesterday, it is the early stages. I might put it down and try and finish something else first.
We went to the library today and checked out a TON of books. So far Green Eggs and Ham was a hit, Felix’s Hat not so much of a hit.

I’m going to put up a site to sell some of my dad’s work. Stay tuned for that – hopefully it doesn’t take me long.

And finally, to the finks that complained about our garden. My mom and I picked 5 beautiful eggplant, several green peppers, and a tomato out of our “weed” patch the weekend. She made us a delicious eggplant parmesan!  There are still quite a few jalapeno peppers out there, we left those for Hubby to pick.

refolding

Are you one of those people that refold clothes/laundry if by chance someone else folds it and it isn’t just so? I have to confess, I am. Towels are the big thing for me. Oh, and the cloth wipes I use on the girls. Fuzzy side goes in, line up the edges, fold in half, and all the folds should face the same direction.Stack neatly.
I wonder what this really says about me. I wish I could be more particular about other things and let small things like this go. Not me though, I just finished packing up for our return trip and I had to stop and refold all the wipes my mom had folded. Crazy, yep probably since I’m freaking exhausted tonight anyway.

I’m also that person that discovers a mistake in her knitting 20 rows back and frogs to fix it, although I am getting pretty good and dropping rows to fix issues too. Perfectionist? Not really, just particular about certain things. Why I’m not more particular about the continuous state of disaster that is our home I will never know.

This trip has really been an eye opener for me. It is good for me to observe my parents’ relationship as an adult, to remember all the nuances of country living – do I really want to do this again, to be away from Hubby so I can miss him and remember why I love him so much, to realize that maybe I need to let some things like the folding of wipes go and focus more on the things that really matter. Things like family.
