working proof

Here’s some proof that I HAVE been doing something.

IMG_4577.jpg Bear A (you know, since they are baby A and baby b) underway. Before we knew there were two I had decided to double the size of the bear. This big square of garter stitch (and the small square) is most of Bear’s body and Bear’s nose; and comprise an entire skein knitted up. I just joined a new ball and have about an inch on the big piece to finish its body. Those two other skeins in the back. Those are bonus! I had forgotten I’d ordered 4 skeins and I was getting nervous about having to order more and the potential of mixing fiber lots. Thank goodness I’m a yarn-aholic and always order extra!

IMG_4580.jpgThe spinning I started a couple of weeks ago. I’m aiming for something a little chunkier and not necessarily even. I think these will make some fun mittens. If not enough for that maybe some booties.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I’ve got lots to do now! The mouse mobile is for sure a go! Amelie is being knit (twice!) by the awesome Dyan. My mom is going to take on the Cupcake set (go mom!), she is doing quite well with her knitting. I have enough yarn to make the 1-2 year on the argyle set … so I think I’m going to put that off for a while. The ribbon-tie dress is really growing on me. I think I’m going to start that in a 3-6 month size. That should be a nice fall thing – something cute to wear for the arts festival.

With plans laid – I must got knit!

I feel like all I do these days is make decisions … so how about some help … I need to do some baby knitting and I need to do two of everything!

(click on the picture to get a bigger version)

This is started … Grumpy Old Bear, from itty-bitty nursery

This I love … Garden Mice Mobile, also from itty-bitty nursery

I have the yarn for two of these … there’s a cardigan version too, but this picture is better, argyle from special knits

Things I like and am just not sure which to pick from … because really, I have limited time, and two … of everything???? Really.

Daisy Dress, from adorable knits for tots

So please help me decide … I can’t make any more decisions this week!

new server

I’m moving to a new server tomorrow … or sometime shortly. I’m not sure how this will really work or what effect it will have on the site. Hopefully everything goes smoothly …

In the mean time, not about knitting, but I took an awesome baking class last weekend. My friend Paula and her friend from KC took a breakfast pastry class put on by the local community college. It was fun and we made some awesome things. Our group made scones (every group actually made scones but ours were the best! the trick is not mixing the dough too much, but making sure you cut the fats in enough), GIANT cinnamon rolls, and pate a choux (another group made the cream filling). Hubby and I throughly enjoyed the eating our pastries for breakfast this past week!

Not much knitting to report this week, but you shouldn’t be surprised by that now. Between classes, a meeting, and relax time (which doesn’t always include knitting anymore) I had a full week. I did work on the purple baby sweater a little. I’m to the point that I need to set in the pockets. I’ve never done pockets before, but it doesn’t look to complicated. I’ll let you know.

news

We’ve gotten a lot of news this week. Surprising news, about little things that will be BIG changes – happy news. This is not much knitting news to report though. I had test and a paper due this week, then the news on Thursday turned the rest of the week upside down.

I did get started on the front sections for the zip up jacket. I also did a couple of rows for the Organic Teddy Bear I’m making from the organic, naturally colored cotton. I really love this yarn, but because it is a different weight that what’s called for it is knitting up super tight – which makes things slow going. I’m also doubling the size of the bear, making things go even slower.

My major accomplishment for this week – I think – is not buying more yarn. I’ve been searching and searching for a pink, low cut v-neck sweater that will fit my expanding parts. I’ve had NO luck. I had giving up and was poised to purchase the yarn for it, but I didn’t! I triumphed over the yarn-pushing gods!! I’ll probably never get the sweater now … but with all the projects I have lined up, I wouldn’t of gotten to it anytime soon anyway. C’est La Vie!!

For friends and family that might be looking for a little more on our news … I’m working on setting up a private section of this website. I’ll let you know.

promised pictures

So I was sick on Tuesday and Wednesday, then back to work I went on Thursday and Friday. So there wasn’t much time to post the pictures I promised. Here they are! (in no particular order)
IMG_4544.jpg The baby outfit I’m knitting for the lady at work. It is from adorable knits for tots by Zoe Mellor. It is the zip-up jacket. This is the back and I’ve since finished it and the pocket linings and pocket flaps.
IMG_4550.jpg The Lorna’s Laces Paint can I was lusting after.

IMG_4552.jpg A so so great picture of the alpaca I got for Christmas. There’s black, grey, a brown and white mix, and some suri white.

IMG_4559.jpg The buffalo Dyan sent me.

IMG_4564.jpg The Mission Falls Wool color palette I got at the LYS sale.

IMG_4568.jpg The RYC silk/wool that will be a sweater for me … someday.

IMG_4572.jpg The wool/hemp I FINALLY finished spinning yesterday. Three bobbins full, now I just need to ply. I’ll probably put the plying off for a while, since this (knit into socks) was supposed to be a Christmas gift.

IMG_4574.jpg The merino roving I decided to treat myself to after finishing the wool/hemp. I’m not going to say who this roving is by because I’m extremely mad at her right now. At this point I consider that she has stolen $4400 from fiber lovers that have signed up for her “club”. The fiber isn’t of great quality either, so once this is resolved I will probably say who it is from so no one else is caught up by the pretty and is unhappy with the product. (Another grip it was supposed to be 4 oz – it is only 3.)

Now it is time to study ….
