Seriously!

It is that time of year again.

It is bitterly cold. The snow is blowing. I haven’t seen our grass in weeks. AND the LYS is having their annual sale!

I’d love to say that I only bough what I needed, but I think everyone would know that was a lie. I’ve purchased my arms full (twice), it is Dec 31st, and I can now say that I’m done. I’m done buying yarn (and fiber) for a while! I’m serious this year. (How many before me have said that, I wonder?)

I probably went a little overboard with this last purchase and with fiber purchases in general this year. Outstanding fiber purchases include 2 clubs that I joined this year. One I’ve received 2 of the 3 packages and for the other “club” that was supposed to be over in December. I’ve received nothing! (I’ll probably devote an entire post to this topic soon.) That’s all that should be added to the stash though … at least on my part! The overboard-ness was probably due partly due to the fact that I know my days of reckless fiber/yarn purchases will soon be coming to an end. In about 6 months our lives are going to be turned topsy-turvy and I KNOW that finances will be an issue. To prepare … I’ve stocked up!

Recent acquisitions …

Rowan silk/wool in a foresty sort of green … pretty!

A Lorna’s Lace’s Little Can of Paint (why yes, it was a b!tch to open – just like a real can on paint!)

A Cashmere glove kit (remember this Dyan? There’s now one in my closet!)

A few colors of Mission Falls Wool.

For Christmas ….

What I can only call an alpaca fiber grab basket

Some buffalo!

So, you see why I can be done for a while?!?!

On my needles …. because it has been just short of forever since I posted (which is another “resolution” for this year, posting more often) … and what I’m actively working on. A baby sweater for a lady a work.

I’ll do some pictures tomorrow and tell you more about this baby sweater.

Happy New Year all! Be Safe!

moving and shaking

I moved my stash today. At least most of it. I need to clear a few shelves before I can get the rest in it’s new home. There’s a shake up coming to our house and we need the “fiber studio” empty and consequently the closet that has held my stash for the last 2.5 years as well. The new closet is going to be a tight fit, it is also the office storage space, but it will work.

More on that and maybe some pictures as things advance.

In the mean time here’s some additions to the stash that haven’t made the move yet. These are destined from projects, as soon as I get the Christmas projects out of the way.

IMG_4528.jpg This is the Baby Cashmerino destined for the argyle cardigan in Debbie Bliss’ Special Knits. The light blue is the main body color and there are a few diamonds in the dark blue and natural along the bottom edge of the sweater.

IMG_4529.jpg The Baby Cashmerino destined for another Pea Pod Set (Interweave). I really enjoyed the first I made and am looking forward to working on this one. This is a different yarn than what the pattern calls for, but I think it should work out nicely.
IMG_4531.jpg This is organic naturally colored cotton from Blue Sky Alpacas. It is destined for the Grumpy Bear (or maybe two) from Itty-Bitty Nursery. Itty-Bitty Nursery has the MOST cute baby patterns. I want to make just about every one of them!
