progress

IMG_4041.jpgI did finish the blues socks. Like anticipated they are to small for my mom and for me. I have yet in 2007 to knit a pair of socks that fits either of us!

IMG_4040.jpgClapotis progress! I’ve done 5 of the 13 middle section repeats, so overall length (which is the question I seem to be getting from everyone I show it to) is going to be slightly more than double what it is now. I’ve dropped 5 rows, which you can somewhat see if you click to get the larger picture. It is wet outside and I was having a heck of time getting a progress picture.
I forgot to take needles to start the Tofutsies socks. Grr, but I might start them tonight. I’m not doing a toe up sock after all. I’m doing the one pattern I had in my pattern stashIMG.jpg that had approx 8 sts per inch. It is an Interweave pattern called Broken Cable Rib Socks, from Summer 2005. I’m not sure if this is in the new Interweave sock, but it wouldn’t surprise me since all the other sock patterns that used to be free to Interweave subscribers are in the book. I’ve browsed through the book at the local bookstore and was shocked to see the patterns I used to flip through for free now at a price of $22.95 (plus tax – or shipping – take your pick).

I’m a little late on the clapotis band wagon – but I made it! I love the clapotis pattern! It is the perfect mix for watching TV or listening to an audio book.IMG_4037.jpg

Here’s a picture of the progress I made before we left for the weekend. This is maybe half way through the increase section. I’m really digging the loving the way the colors are working out!
I’m quite a bit farther now and I did 4 stitch swatches that I want to share (but they need to be blocked), but now I’m just to tired to move. We went to my parents house for the weekend, which is about 6 hours straight south of us. It was my dad’s birthday and we had a great time seeing my folks and playing in their garden – which is about a month a head of ours! I showed my mom how to knit short rows and Hubby played with Dad in his wood shop. I’m pretty tired from all the action and excitement of the weekend, possibly too tired to knit.

I bought some yarn this weekend …

IMG_4025.jpgPaula and I killed some time at one of the LYS Personal Threads Friday night. It is a cramped, small store and it can be hard to find something if you go in with a purpose, but the help is super friendly and always helpful. AND they have a great selection – hence the cramped part of the discription. AND because I positively don’t have enough sock yarn (yeah, right) I got this. Tofutsies #791.

I had a terrible morning this morning so it called for a trip to the other LYS (and I had a 25% off coupon) so I got this Lorna’s Laces, Lion & Lamb in Gold Hill, for a clapotis. Yes, there are another 2 balls that aren’t pictured and yes this yarn is a bit expensive, but remember I had a rough morning and it was a cheer me up, kind of purchase.

I have a couple of trips coming up soon and I’m going to take both of these projects along. The blues socks should be finished by the end of the week and then I’m going to get going on these. I’m either going to try some toe up socks with the Tofutsies (using a Lucy Neatby pattern) or I’m going to do the Interweave Toe Sock pattern.

I did some spinning this morning and finished my Orchid from Abby. I got less than I anticipated, so I’m happily taking suggestions for 158 yds of about fingering weight yarn.

It is also time for a garden update!

IMG_4027.jpg IMG_4030.jpg IMG_4029.jpg I haven’t seen any eggplant seedlings yet, which is something I was really looking forward to, but everything else is doing wonderful!

It’s that time again!

I love summer! The gardening, the biking, it is so much fun! Hubby and I biked 33.5 miles on the Wabash Trace today! I got a bit too much sun, but it was fun!

The yarn inventory continues … I got the most of it last night and this morning. What’s left is the big packages I have set aside for large projects (sweaters). I have decided to inventory my fiber too. What I haven’t decided is if I will share the results of my inventory.

I’ve been getting some serious spam lately – I upped the security on the comments (not that I have a lot of comment-ers), but for those of you that do leave comments please let me know if you have any problems. For you lurkers – leave some comments – let me test if the new filters are working!

Last night Paula, Hubby and I went on the Taco Ride. Fun times! The Taco Ride is held on the Wabash Trace, an old railroad that has been converted in a trail network. The Wabash is very similar to the Katy Trail – a little better known, I think. It is a crushed limestone trail that is relatively flat – because of the railroad grade thing. The ride starts SE of Council Bluffs, IA and goes 10 miles or so down the trail to Mineola, IA where you can get 6 tacos and a pitcher of beer for $11 at a little mom and pop place, then you come back. It was an uneventful ride – expect for the suicidal raccoon that got stuck in my headlight, but it was SO nice to be out on the bike, with friends, again. The company was good, the food was good (beer is always good), and I don’t think we could have asked for better weather. We didn’t stop at margarita-ville and I’m not really sure what it is, so if you know fill me in!

I given myself the task of going through the stash this weekend. I might even do an inventory. Just yarn though – I still feel I have a fairly decent mental tally of the spinning fiber. I was going to start tonight, but I’m exhausted so I’ll start on it tomorrow. There are some balls I can think of that I’d like to purge – suggestions??
